Fiona is a fully qualified and insured Sports Massage and Exercise Therapist with a strong background in Sport and Exercise Science. She completed her Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy (ActiveIQ) at Birmingham Met College (formerly Matthew Boulton Colllege) in 2009. Fiona is trained to provide therapeutic sports massage, joint mobilisation techniques and exercise prescription to improve joint function and reduce pain symptoms. She is an Affiliate member of the Sports Therapy Association.
Fiona comes from a research background in Sport and Exercise Science, and she has graduated with a Doctorate (PhD), a Masters (MPhil) and a Bachelors (BSc) degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Aberystwyth University. Her research focused on the benefits of therapeutic exercise for strength, balance and flexibility and she is a published author in the peer-reviewed scientific 'Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research'. Fiona has presented her research findings at international research conferences, including the International Society of Biomechanics (ISB) Annual Congress, Brussels in 2011, as well as the 13th International Falls and Postural Stability Conference, Leeds in 2012. In 2011, she was awarded an ISB International Student Travel Grant. This enabled her to complete a 6-week Visiting Researcher placement at the world-leading Toronto Rehabilitation Institute in Toronto, Canada, where she assisted in cutting edge stroke and falls rehabilitation research projects.
